Privacy Policy — Pentane Post-Purchase Survey

Pentane Post-Purchase Survey (“the app”) is operated by Pentane (“we”, “us”). The app lets a merchant ask buyers a single post-purchase attribution question (for example, “How did you hear about us?”) on the order confirmation and order status pages of the merchant’s Shopify store. This policy describes what the app collects and how it is used.
What we collect
From merchants who install the app:
- The store’s
.myshopify.comdomain and the survey configuration the merchant authors (question text and answer options).
From buyers who choose to answer the survey:
- The selected answer option and the Shopify order id of the purchase, along with the time of the response.
We do not collect buyer names, email addresses, phone numbers, shipping or billing addresses, payment details, or any other personal information. The order id is the only order reference stored, and answering the survey is entirely optional for buyers.
How the data is used
Survey responses are used solely to provide marketing-attribution reporting to the merchant whose store collected them (for example, counts of responses per channel and their relationship to order-level business metrics). We do not sell the data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties other than the service providers below.
Where the data lives
Data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase and served by application infrastructure hosted by Vercel, both located in the United States. All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS.
Retention and deletion
- We honor Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks. When Shopify sends a customer redaction request, survey responses tied to the affected orders are deleted. When a store is redacted after uninstalling the app, all data for that store — survey configuration and responses — is deleted.
- Merchants can also request deletion of their store’s data at any time using the contact below.
Your rights
Because we store no buyer personal information, survey responses cannot be linked to an individual by us. Buyers with privacy questions about a purchase should contact the merchant they bought from; merchants can contact us directly.
